Canal+ has signed a five-year agreement with French film organizations. The channel will invest nearly one billion euros in French and European films between 2028 and 2032. This is a substantial increase compared to the previous three-year agreement, under which €480 million was pledged. CEO Maxime Saada called the agreement historic. Canal+ will continue to offer films to subscribers six months after their theatrical release. The agreement was reached after months of tense negotiations, partly due to a petition at Cannes accusing Canal+ of the growing influence of shareholder Vincent Bolloré. Saada confirmed that filmmakers' attitudes towards Canal+ play a role in project evaluations.
