Maria Bäck's Brave New Love had its world premiere in the International Competition of the 79th Locarno Film Festival. The Danish-Swedish-Greek co-production followed hypnotherapist Kate, played by Kathrine Thorborg Johansen, whose extramarital affair destabilizes her marriage and self-image. Variety called it an "unusual, open-minded marital drama." Bäck developed the script through reference groups and tested scenes live. DoP Maria von Hausswolff and composer Jenny Hval worked closely with the director. Funding came from Danish, Swedish, and Greek funds, with early media support playing a key role.
