Sofía Carrillo is preparing her feature film debut: Insectarium, an 85-minute stop-motion film written by Monika Revilla. The co-production between Mexico, Spain, Canada, and Latvia has a budget of $4.76 million and is scheduled for June 2028. The story takes place in a world without insects, where protagonist Lexi discovers that a rare moth can come to life. The producers are Nicolás Celis (Roma), Matīss Kaža (Flow), Valérie Delpierre, and Daniela Mujica. A funding gap of approximately $1.88 million remains. Carrillo previously worked on Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio and won two Ariel Awards for animated short films.
