The 79th edition of the Locarno Film Festival crowned You Don't Belong Here by Romanian director Florin Șerban with the Golden Leopard. The film is a three-hour drama about a father and son who are unable to build a genuine relationship. Teodor Butănescu received a Special Mention for his performance. The Riverbank by Matheus Farias and Enock Carvalho won the Special Jury Prize. Hong Sangsoo's Nowhere To Lay My Eyes took the Leopard for Best Direction, while Kim Minhee and Monica Bellucci each won a Leopard for Best Performance. The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer by Alessandra Sanguinetti dominated the Filmmakers of the Present competition.
