PROFILM, the trade association for Spanish producers of international audiovisual content, presented its report on foreign investment in 2025. International projects generated €103.9 million in direct investment that year, a decrease of 20% compared to 2024. The number of contracts fell by 23.7%. PROFILM Chairman Peter Welter points to a structural problem: the Spanish tax benefit of 30% on the first million of expenditure is less attractive than what other European countries offer. The organization advocates for three measures: a revision of tax incentives, strengthening legal certainty, and accelerating administrative procedures. Without intervention, Spain risks permanently losing international productions to competing countries.
