The 23rd edition of Giornate degli Autori, taking place in Venice from September 2 to 12, presents 25 world premieres selected from 1,036 entries from 114 countries, with Artistic Director Gaia Furrer choosing 14 films by female directors. The edition, the first without founder Giorgio Gosetti, revolves around displacement, memory, and identity. The competition opens with My Notes on Mars by Lili Horvát, while films such as Balcanica by Nicola Sorcinelli, Camouflage by Mykyta Gibalenko, and Une femme aujourd'hui by Robert Guédiguian continue the exploration of boundaries between the individual and the world. The jury, chaired by Carla Simón, presents the GdA Director's Award, while Notti Veneziane highlights Italian independent cinema, including Scarpe rotte by Roberta Torre.
