The Edinburgh International Film Festival presents its 2026 edition (13–19 August) with 38 new feature films, 21 of which are world premieres. The opening film is Louis Paxton's comedy **The Incomer** starring Domhnall Gleeson, while Louise Lockwood's documentary **Bel** hosts the closing night. Ten world premieres are competing for the Sean Connery Prize, with Paul Wright's **Mission** starring George MacKay and Simon Ryninks' **Out There** starring Michael Sheen standing out. The industry programme includes the first UK Film Conference. Out of competition, the festival is screening Carlos Conceição's **Bodyhackers**, and a retrospective section includes a re-screening of Danny Boyle's **Trainspotting** to mark its thirtieth anniversary.
