According to research by Ampere Analysis, 83% of top-tier romance commissions on streaming services in the first half of 2026 will consist of scripted content, whereas in the second half of 2022, this was still equally divided with reality dating. The shift is driven by the durability of the genre among viewers aged 18 to 24, with 49% of this group indicating a love for romance, seven percentage points above the global average. Book adaptations play a central role, as their volume increased by 73% between 2023-2024 and 2025-2026, with Amazon and Netflix each accounting for 50% of scripted romance commissions.
