The 22nd Biografilm Festival takes place in Bologna from June 5 to 15 and presents 64 films from 34 countries, including 16 world premieres, with the edition dedicated to the memory of Frederick Wiseman and Giorgio Gosetti. Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth open the festival with Broken English, a portrait of Marianne Faithfull, while Joshua Oppenheimer closes with The Revolution Against Death. The international competition includes Amílcar by Miguel Eek, Burning Voice by Anna Bruun Nørager, and This Is Not a French Film by Tom Adjibi, which explore postcolonial politics, women's rights, and racial representation in French cinema, respectively. The festival further honors Kaouther Ben Hania and casting director Bonnie Timmermann.
