A new report from ifs International Film School Cologne, supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA program, offers insights into the roles and responsibilities of European showrunners. The report, titled "Showrunning in Europe – Skills, Tasks, Responsibilities," is based on interviews and surveys of showrunners from six European countries. It highlights differences from the American model, where European showrunners work more closely with producers. However, the role of showrunner in Europe remains vaguely defined, leading to uncertainties about authority and compensation.
